My Heroes

So many of the people who read my blog already know, but a few of you don't so before I start on what I'm doing this summer, I want to let you in on what my brother and dad are doing. One week ago (to the day) my dad, brother, and Aunt Dawn started on a long bike trip from Arizona to Washington D.C. (That's the Washington on the coast).

Yup! while most 16 year old boys are into playing video games and pretending they are cool. My brother is actually being cool. He's seeing things that most people miss because they are zipping away in a car at 60 mph or they never zip by at all, or when they do zip by they are playing nintendo or ds games. Most people have a bucket list that they talk about doing, dream about doing but honestly never really do.

They are an inspiration of doing what is hard. That's kinda the point of my whole blog because so many people think they are to small to do great things. But don't we have a promise that God has great things planned for us?

When I think about my dad, aunt, and brother biking across the country I remember that we are command to number our days. Live each day remembering it could be our last and remembering that they only thing that gives our days value is bring glory to God.

Dad, Zach, and Aunt Dawn I'm cheering for you all the way! Keep pedaling and don't look back. I'll see you next fall!

Summer Time

I think summer tells more about us then any other time of the year. Think about it. During school everything is dictating for you. Unless you want to spend the rest of your life roller skating at Sonic (not that that's a bad thing, I did it for a year and a half)  you have to study for tests, show up for class, and so on. But when summer hits you get to decide what you do. Lazy people do nothing; work-a-holics work 60+ hours a week; fun-a-holics do anything that sounds even remotely fun. I'm starting to think I'm a mixture of all of the above.

So what type of person spends an hour and a half stretching after  pulling off an 11 hour day at a daycare. Then when you reach the deepest depths of boredom that you see how long you can hold a backbend. Of course I still don't know because Daniel wouldn't leave me alone, but I went longer then a minuet.

However, my summer is about to start. I'm headed to Grand View Christian Camp in Alpine Arizona. I have one day left of work and the rest of the summer will be spent counseling kids. I'm really excited and it's neat to see my whole family doing fun and amazing things. My dad and brother (and aunt) are off on a bike ride from Arizona to Washington D.C. My sister and brother-in-law are in charge of a ministry team for the rest of the summer. My little sisters are going to Disney land and my mom is graduating!

So what does that say about my family. Well right now we look crazy and adventurous I guess really only the end of the summer can tell. So I'm going to try to keep up with this blog for my beloved little kiddos at my old job, and for the campers I haven't even met yet. Happy summer to all of you and I hope you do fun and amazing things.
